PracticeSmartDiaries (PSD) is an invaluable teaching resource used to encourage students to practise effectively and regularly.

It can be used in conjunction with a homework notebook or as a replacement for one and can be used in any teaching situation where regular independent practice is required.

The teachers pack gives you everything you need to motivate and inspire your students to practise.

Self Motivating

Our PSD system encourages students to learn to self-evaluate & become accountable for their own practise & learning.

Fun

Students love the system & enjoy coming back to their teachers to show them what they have achieved.

Economical

At less than the cost of a cup of coffee, you can achieve the results you want with your students & that leads to happy students & parents.

Convenient

The student can't forget to bring their notebook - the homework sticker does the work by being stuck to the page.

Easy to Use

It's very clear where the homework is recorded & the student can see exactly what is expected.

Flexible

Suits any teaching style & situation. You make the system work for you whichever way you want to.

TESTIMONIALS

I use the Diaries for the younger students. They seem to enjoy the idea and love the sticker cards and especially the gift when they are completed. I do recommend them to colleagues.

Adrienne van Drimmelen

I mostly use the sticky notes system but the older children love the diary bit with the reward stickers at end of each week – I love the snail as I use it to encourage slow practice.

I have recommended the system widely and intend ordering more in the New Year

I use the sticky notes for about 50% of my students. I use the traditional notebook for senior students or those who practise regularly but the notes are good for ones who either don’t practise well or who always forget their notebook! I would recommend them

Alison Jepson

I use this as a parent to track what was said in the lesson, and then for the children to self evaluate with the stickers how their week went.  It’s interesting as they choose whether they think they earned a small, medium or large sticker.

This is a good system for children old enough to evaluate how they’ve gone.

Marie Webb

For some students I use the PSD system, and for some just the homework sticky notes, depends on how diligent the student is about filling it in and/or doing the regular practice. My young students particularly like this system – they usually like stickers, and a treat at the end of the 10 weeks.

Adèle Dickinson

The whole system works well, particularly the students doing their own evaluation on the bottom of the sticky note. I am teaching one school through Skype and the Teacher Aide I have over there uses your system to write the lesson notes and then sticks them into each child’s music book. It has been a superb teaching tool in this situation.

Why PracticeSmartDiaries?

PracticeSmartDiaries (PSD) is an invaluable teaching resource used to encourage students to practise effectively and regularly. PSD is reward based, self-motivating, convenient, economical, fun, easy to use and will suit any teaching style. It can be used in conjunction with a homework notebook or as a replacement for one and can be used in any teaching situation where regular independent practice is required.

Homework is recorded on bright green A6 Homework ‘Sticky Notes‘ then adhered to the students’ book, practice is recorded between lessons and for the younger students, signed off by a parent. Students learn to self-evaluate and discuss their weekly practice efforts at the next lesson being rewarded with a sticker for 5 practices. ‘Practice challenges’ can be negotiated for inadequate practice to keep progress moving forward. The treat at the end of each Term is the goal 🙂

PracticeSmartDiaries system was designed on the principle ‘Expect a lot, accept a little, and praise often!’
