I use this as a parent to track what was said in the lesson, and then for the children to self evaluate with the stickers how their week went. It’s interesting as they choose whether they think they earned a small, medium or large sticker.
This is a good system for children old enough to evaluate how they’ve gone.

For some students I use the PSD system, and for some just the homework sticky notes, depends on how diligent the student is about filling it in and/or doing the regular practice. My young students particularly like this system – they usually like stickers, and a treat at the end of the 10 weeks.

The whole system works well, particularly the students doing their own evaluation on the bottom of the sticky note. I am teaching one school through Skype and the Teacher Aide I have over there uses your system to write the lesson notes and then sticks them into each child’s music book. PSD is reward based, self-motivating, convenient, economical, fun, easy to use and will suit any teaching style. It can be used in conjunction with a homework notebook or as a replacement for one and can be used in any teaching situation where regular independent practice is required.
Homework is recorded on bright green A6 Homework ‘Sticky Notes‘ then adhered to the students’ book, practice is recorded between lessons and for the younger students, signed off by a parent. Students learn to self-evaluate and discuss their weekly practice efforts at the next lesson being rewarded with a sticker for 5 practices. ‘Practice challenges’ can be negotiated for inadequate practice to keep progress moving forward. The treat at the end of each Term is the goal 🙂
